I live in England and we have pine, holly, mistletoe, pine cones and assorted winter foliage. I like to make a pretty ornament by using these greens and adding red berry strings and spray a few pine cones and gold, then place in a vase or bowl.
You could also add some fairy lights.

Gerbils do chew a lot, however if they have plenty of other things to chew they may be ok on a short term basis. Make sure they have a water bottle as well though, you’d have to find a way to mount one.

However if possible get the gerbilarium and tank topper before you get the gerbils. That would save the hassle and make it easier for the gerbils to settle in.
