…it changed the consistency of the wax and the candle never set up correctly. I wanted to make a White Shoulders perfume candle for my mom a while back, and thought it would be a good idea to add the actual cologne. When I did, it caused the wax to partially solidify, and the candle was basically ruined (it was clumpy and turned a funky grayish color with huge chunks of wax in it…yuck). I originally thought it was because I added too much cologne, but my candle-making friend (who has been doing this about 5 years longer than I have) said it was due to the alcohol content in the cologne.

She recommends using fragrance oils for candle making and I’ve had MUCH better success with those scents than I have with cologne/perfume.

Yes, you can certainly re-use the votive holders. Since you have been laid off if you are looking to make a little extra money you could clean them up and make crafts with them by painting on them with glass paints, decoupaging designs, etc. and sell them at craft shows.

Earn free candles either by hosting a candle party or by doing a “catalog” party and earning free candles by collecting orders from family, friends and neighbors

You might want to consider is signing up to be an independent distributor/rep for a candle company. As a rep/distributor you can buy candles at the distributor price (usually about half price) You could also sell them to make some extra income or at least pay for your own candles!

You are not going to find an inexpensive soy free feed. The reason they use soy in the first place is because it is cheap.

If your dog isn’t very big it could be cheaper to cook your own food for him especially if he has allergies or a digestive problem (as one of my dogs have). this way you know what he is being fed is also “natural” and without preservatives etc.

I do 50% brown pasta or rice, 25% veggies (what ever is in season and cheap) and 25% protine (ask the butcher for off cuts of lamb, beef or chicken which he cant sell) you can add a vit / min supplement if you like but I find my dog dosn’t need it. Its easy to cook (just boil it all up together) and make enough in one batch so you can freeze some (this way you only have to do it a week or two at a time.
